Put curcumin in your mouth daily.

I realized I malabsorb fructose via hydrogen breath test before going on the low FODMAP diet, which eliminates certain categories of carbohydrates that are difficult to absorb. This diet is what led me to believe I do not tolerate gluten either. After giving up both of these, my hormones and cycles have regulated, I stopped getting migraines, I lost 15lbs that I didn’t know I needed to lose, and all my joint pain disappeared. If I have 1 slice of bread, my neck will get so tight that I won’t be able to turn it more than a total of 90°.
If anyone is still having symptoms after eliminating gluten, try this diet. It feels quite restrictive at first, but at least it isn’t carnivore!

After decades of doctors not finding the reason I always severely anemic, a doctor said CANCER! and sent me off to oncology. The oncology doctor (and I will be forever grateful for him) looked at my charts, looked at me, asked me if I was of Scotch/Irish decent, I am, (did you know there is a higher incident there?) took my hands and looked and touched my fingernails and stated, you have celiac and sent me off for IGA/TTA blood work and biopsy. Welcome from there, osteoporosis and osteopenia diagnosis. Perhaps also an answer to the arthritis in what feels like every joint in my body but especially hands/fingers, shoulders and knees. You might say, but you are 68 and that’s normal… no, it is not normal. But let’s go back to age 17 and emergency abdominal surgery for extreme unexplained pain and after cutting a 10″ slash across my abdomen finding nothing definite pointing to the cause of the pain (good bye bikinis as a teen and thank goodness so many surgeries are now done arthroscopic) that was a week long hospital stay that lives in my memory. Oh, don’t forget teeth! Along with bone loss (not absorbing all those vitamins and minerals) comes what decades of undiagnosed celiac can do to your teeth. I still have mine and hope to keep them till ‘the end’ but I have periodontal disease due again to lack of necessary elements being absorbed. I could go on. All I can say is I’m sure my friends and maybe family will never hear me stop reminding them when they complain about gut issues and wave fad diets around, get tested for celiac! It doesn’t hurt to rule it out and it might actually add a few good years to your life. I insisted my adult children get tested as well as grands. Luckily it appears, so far, to have bypassed the next two generations. If I could go back in time armed with the information I have now, I believe I could have saved my mother from her decades of gut issues.

Reading this story, I definitely thought of myself and I am currently being diagnosed concurrently with Celiac and Ankylosing Spondylitis. I went to my general practitioner with low back pain that was excruciating at rest, or being in the same position too long (standing with my weight on one leg, sitting, laying especially) and then changing positions, like getting out of bed or rolling over. While I still have dull pain most of the time, the severe pain goes away with movement which is the hallmark of inflammation pain from AS.

I also have always had some IBS symptoms cramping after eating relieved by a BM, for one, but in the last year, it became much more often, and I felt sick and nauseous almost daily so I mentioned that to my doctor as well. I was tested for all the celiac tests and was positive on them all, so we are doing the endoscopy in a month.

Could it be Anklosing Spondolytis? Related to Rhuematoid and autoimmune issues ??

I have lipomas essentially all over my body. Fortunately they haven’t been visible enough to be deforming. But some have caused pain as they rest against a muscle and therefore I’ve had 9 removed from my back.
It took me four years to convince (several) doctors that they were painful and needed to be removed. Unfortunately, surgery always runs the risk of causing inflammation… Which is what happened with the last surgery six weeks ago. My whole left flank is very swollen and painful. The doctors are trying to figure out what to do to solve this problem.
I am totally convinced that lipomas are an auto immune related problem but have only found one doctor online who agrees. And even he does not believe there is any cure only temporary relief through removal of offending lipomas.
Thanks for providing a place to voice our opinions and feelings.

I’ve always thought they were all connected. I’m seeing a metabolic specialist. Hoping she can give me some relief!
